Frequently asked questions

Arranging companionship and home support can bring many questions. Here is everything you need to know about how our visits work, how we keep families informed, and the dedicated care we provide across Essex.

What typically happens during a wellbeing visit?

Every wellbeing visit is shaped around the individual, their usual routines, and how they would like to spend the time. A visit might include sharing a cup of tea and conversation, preparing a light meal, enjoying a favourite hobby, taking a short walk, or accompanying them on a local outing. Our companion provides a friendly, familiar presence and takes time to listen, offer reassurance, and help the person remain connected to the things they enjoy.

Are these visits clinical or personal care?

These are social and emotional wellbeing visits rather than clinical health checks or personal care. Where helpful, visits can also include light practical support such as collecting shopping, organising household paperwork, or providing appointment reminders, keeping the focus entirely on lifestyle, independence, and overall wellbeing.

What makes your companionship feel personal rather than rushed?

Anaya's companionship is centred on the person, not a checklist of tasks. We take time to learn about each client's personality, interests, routines, and life experiences so that visits feel comfortable, meaningful, and genuinely enjoyable. This thoughtful, unhurried approach provides authentic connection, continuity, and an occasion to look forward to.

How does companion consistency benefit my loved one?

Consistency helps a real relationship develop naturally. A familiar companion remembers how someone takes their tea, the stories they enjoy sharing, the places they like visiting, and the small daily routines that matter to them. The time together can then be shaped gently around how the person feels on that particular day.

How do you keep families updated after visits?

We agree communication arrangements with the client and their family from the outset, including who should receive updates and how often. With the client's consent, an agreed family member can receive a brief update following each visit, offering reassurance that the visit has taken place and sharing relevant information about how their loved one has been.

How do you balance family updates with privacy?

We carefully balance family reassurance with the client's right to dignity, privacy, and independence. Updates are personalised and only shared in strict alignment with the arrangements agreed as part of the individual support plan.

What happens if a companion notices a concern?

If a companion notices something that causes concern, it is taken seriously and responded to immediately and appropriately, following Anaya's safeguarding procedures alongside the communication preferences agreed with the client and their family.

What is the best first step to take?

The best first step is simply to have a friendly, no-obligation conversation with our team. You do not need to have everything decided or know the precise level of support required—we will listen to your concerns, answer your questions, and guide you through the available options.
